Aaron Dyches
Aaron C. Dyches is a seasoned aviation professional with over 25 years of industry experience, including 11 years as the Director of Flight Operations at Utah State University. He came from cargo and the airlines and now specializes in flight training program management, FAA compliance, and strategic operational planning. Under his leadership, the university’s flight program has expanded from 120 to over 400 students across two satellite locations.
Aaron has served in various roles, including Chief and Assistant Chief Flight Instructor, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI), and university educator. He actively mentors students and instructors, enhances safety standards, and advances aviation education. With a Master’s in Curriculum Design and a Bachelor’s in Aviation Professional Pilot, he combines academic expertise with over 3,000 flight hours in multi-engine, instrument, and turbine operations.
Beyond aviation, Aaron enjoys bladesmithing, reflecting his dedication to mastering complex skills. His passion for education and flight operations continues to shape the future of aviation at USU.
